Trucks traveling through on I-75, I-85 or I-20 are routed onto I-285 around Atlanta rather than through the middle of it. A truck with a delivery inside the perimeter is a different case and goes in, but it goes in through traffic that is a genuine scheduling factor, not a complaint, and it needs somewhere legal to stop when it gets there. Inside-the-perimeter parking is the survey question on almost every Atlanta move we run, and on a narrow intown street the answer is often a shuttle.

Atlanta's employment is not in one place: Delta and the airport to the south, Home Depot and the Cumberland cluster to the north-west, then Perimeter Center, Midtown and the Alpharetta corridor beyond that. Atlanta is more than two hundred miles from the coast and it is still in the season. Helene came into Georgia as a hurricane in September 2024, left close to a million people in the state without power, and gave Atlanta its first ever flash flood emergency and its wettest three days since 1919. The practical split in Atlanta is inside or outside I-285. Outside, access is usually good and a full-size trailer reaches the door.
