Equipment you need to ensure a safe moveWhen you’re getting ready to pack boxes for moving, the first thing you need to do is make sure you have all the necessary moving supplies, right? Similarly, when it comes to loading and unloading all those packed boxes, you shouldn’t get down to it without proper equipment, as some items will be too heavy for you to carry into the moving truck. To help you plan this part of your move, we’ve created a list of must-have tools if you’ve decided to go through the relocation process without hiring professional movers.

  1. Dolly

First of all, we suggest that you rent a dolly. In fact, you will probably need two kinds – both the furniture and utility dolly. The former is, as the name itself suggests, useful for moving heavy and bulky furniture pieces, as they have a large flat base and four wheels. The latter, on the other hand, have two wheels and are upright, which makes them suitable for stacking several boxes at once.

  1. Ropes and straps

You don’t know what to do with your big-screen TV, a couch, or some of your large appliances? That’s what ropes and straps are used for. These can save you a lot of trouble and secure your items to a dolly and even after you load them.

  1. Stair-roller

Naturally, you will need a stair-roller only if you have stairs in your house, especially if they are carpeted. Stair-rollers are easy to attach and handle, so keep them in mind to avoid sliding a heavy object down the stairs, which can cause some damage both to the box content and the stairs, and it can also be harmful to you.

  1. Moving blankets

While your safety should always come first, you should still think about the safety of your things, too. So, if you want to make sure that all your fragile and valuable items are secure during the transportation, do not forget to put moving blankets on your list. You would be wrong to assume that these are just a waste of money. Just remember that your boxes are likely to move around the moving truck during the transportation, so, if not adequately protected, your stuff can get damaged along the way. To avoid that, wrap everything in moving blankets or pads, and there’s nothing to worry about.

  1.  Packing tape

Speaking of the security of your belongings, we should not forget to mention packing tape, which can come in handy when you want to secure furniture pieces together or simply to tape the boxes.
