How the services fit together
One order, one carrier, one invoice. Everything above travels on the same job with the same company accountable for it — there is no second contract for the packing and no third for the car. That matters more than it sounds: when a move goes wrong the question is never what was promised, it is who is answerable, and a single carrier means a single answer.
What is included and what is not
The long distance move is the spine: loading, transport, delivery, and thirty days of storage in transit whether you expect to need it or not. Packing, crating, shuttles and long carries are priced at survey — established before you book rather than discovered on loading day. That is the whole distinction, and the table below draws it service by service.
The one that is not what people think
Valuation is the exception worth reading properly. Federal law makes an interstate mover offer two levels of liability, and almost everything written about it gets the important part backwards: full value protection is the default if you sign nothing, and released value — sixty cents per pound per article — is the free one you have to ask for. Neither is insurance, and a home policy does not fill the gap. It is the one place on a moving contract where doing nothing is the better choice, and what the carrier is liable for sets out what qualifies as extraordinary value and how a claim is actually settled.

Storage in transit beyond thirty days moves to a monthly rate, quoted before it starts rather than after. Extraordinary-value items must be declared in writing to be covered as such.

I couldn't even think of using another moving service! The process of scheduling is a breeze, they arrive precisely when expected, and the movers are incredibly courteous, efficient, and friendly. They put in a lot of effort and handle your items as if they were their own. They also possess skills in packing and unpacking, which has been immensely beneficial. They are highly adaptable and always seem to figure out how to maneuver seemingly impossible in/out scenarios. Moreover, the office staff is so kind and quick to respond – they go above and beyond to make sure all your queries and worries are addressed. They answer their own calls and respond to emails instantly. These are the best movers out there! We'll absolutely be using their service again in a year for our next (and hopefully final) move to Modesto!

Not only was Cross Country able to pick up my life within 72 hours, every single person I interacted with was kind, thorough and (gasp!) even funny! Moving is tough. This move was from Boulder, CO to Detroit, MI in the middle of winter. The team at Cross Country not only saved the day, they went above and beyond to make sure all our timing hit just right. My stuff was picked up on a Tuesday and delivered on Friday of the same week. The movers in Colorado were great – easy going yet efficient and very careful with my items. The dispatch team is as good as it gets. Overall, dependable, quality service at competitive rates. They may be slightly more than others but when it comes to moving, you get what you pay for. These guys offer peace of mind and ease in addition to outstanding service. Would absolutely use again.

relocating two storage facilities into one is a massive endeavor. i feel fortunate to have been directed to the team at cross country movers group. like any sensible person, i gathered 3 estimates for shifting my packing machinery. the three proposals were highly competitive, but the technician from cross country movers group elevated the estimation process. he inquired about all the right details and delivered a comforting customer experience. from inception to completion, this team took charge of everything. i was kept in the loop all week with updates on their progress or any possible delays. collaborating with the crew was the most seamless relocating experience i’ve ever had. i was able to concentrate on other tasks while they handled the move. the work was finished in 3 weeks, with 4 large presses, 2 small presses, and 5 other machines all relocated without a single issue. i greatly appreciate the outstanding service you guys provided!
Do I have to take packing if I book the move?
No. Plenty of customers pack their own cartons and have us crate only the awkward items. We will still inventory everything, and self-packed cartons are noted as such on the paperwork.
What is full-value protection?
The valuation option where a damaged item is repaired, replaced or settled at its current value. The alternative, released value, is included at no charge but settles at sixty cents per pound per article — which on a television is a few dollars. We explain both before you choose.
Can the car and the furniture travel together?
They travel on the same order but not always on the same equipment — cars go on a carrier built for them. One coordinator, one price, two pieces of equipment.
